Virginia Beach, VA – The Towson University track and field team finished the inaugural indoor Colonial Athletic Association Championships tied with University of Delaware for 6
th place after earning 51 points.
The Tigers picked up two more podium finishes on day two along with more personal bests from several athletes.
How it Happened – Track
- Cristal Cuervo placed fifth overall in the 400-meter finals with a 55.98, lowering her time from prelims by 0.35.
- Cuervo went on to claim a bronze medal in the 200-meter finals after clocking a PR of 24.31. Maya Tucker competed in the event as well, picking up a new PR of 24.53 to place seventh.
- In the 60-meter dash finals, Sydney Tucker placed fifth with a time of 7.64.
- The 4x400 relay made up of Maya Tucker (57.47), Sydney Tucker (58.27), Cristal Cuervo (55.31) and Emily Lunger (58.62) clocked a 3:49.69 which is good enough for fourth all-time in Towson history.
How it Happened – Field
- Senior Aliyah Anderson opened the second day with a podium finish, placing second in the high jump with a mark of 1.64m, .01 off of her PR. Leeann Redlo placed fifth with the same mark.
- Fatimah Owens placed seventh in the shot put with a PR of 14.12, moving her to fifth all-time in Towson history.
- Manie Mevo placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.84m, only .01 off of the freshman's PR. Aliyah Anderson (11.65m) was the next finisher for the Towson in the event, followed by Skylay Galiano-Holmes (11.45m). Both Tigers earned new PRs as well.
