Towson, Md – The Towson University gymnastics team won the quad meet with Fisk, George Washington and William & Mary Sunday afternoon after narrowly missing its program best score of 196.800. The Tigers put up a 196.775, continuing their winning streak and advancing the overall record this season to 20-2-1. Towson remained in the lead throughout all four rotations, posting 49.000s or better on three events.
The team competed in front of a packed and electric audience, as 2,489 fans helped smash the previous SECU Arena gymnastics meet attendance record of 1,087 by a wide margin.
The Black & Gold dominated on bars once again, sweeping the event after Tigers claimed the first three places. The Teams highest score of the meet came from vault though, where they received a program best 49.400.
George Washington finished in second place with 196.400 followed by William & Mary's 192.225. Fisk rounded out the competition with a 189.925.
How it Happened:
Vault – 49.400
- Polina Belanovski continued her winning streak on the event, posting a career best 9.925 to place first for the fifth consecutive meet.
- Lauren Bolen followed, placing second after tying her career best 9.900.
- Mia Davis picked up a new career best as well, receiving a 9.875. Camille Vitoff earned the same score, tying with Davis for fifth.
- Towson secured the lead early, putting a 0.600-point margin between them and the team in second place.
Bars – 49.175
Beam – 48.900
- Beam was the only event where a Towson athlete did not claim the first-place spot; George Washington's Deja Chambliss secured gold after posting 9.900. Lauren Keener took second with a season high 9.875. The score also ties her career best.
- Cassidy Stuart finished in fourth place with a 9.825.
- While George Washington began to close the gap between Towson, the Tigers remained in first place.
