TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team welcomes Stony Brook on Thursday night in a pivotal matchup.

Crunch Time
With two games left in CAA play, the Tigers sit tied for second place in the standings only 1.5 games behind first-place Drexel. The Tigers are tied with N.C. A&T, Stony Brook and Northeastern for second place. If Towson finishes in the top four of the CAA, the Tigers will secure a double bye and play their first game on Friday in the Quarterfinals.

A couple of Tigers have surpassed some great milestones, including
Anissa Rivera, who passed 1000 career points against Monmouth after she nailed a three from the top of the key.
Skye Williams surpassed 500 career points at Towson on Sunday against Drexel, while
Kylie Kornegay-Lucas eclipsed 500 career points against UMass Lowell.

Skye-Way to Heaven
Skye Williams earned CAA Player of the Week after averaging 17.0 points on 60% shooting to help guide Towson to a perfect 2-0 week in CAA play. The Graduate guard scored a team-high 16 points while shooting 50% from the floor to help Towson erase an eight-point halftime deficit against Delaware, which included ten points in the second half. The Native from Indianapolis, Indiana followed Friday's performance with 18 points on 75% (6-8) shooting versus Drexel. On Sunday, Williams went perfect (4-4) from behind the arc and added four rebounds with two assists.

Stepping Into the Spotlight
Quinzia Fulmore has thrived stepping into the starting lineup this season. The sophomore forward from Greensboro, North Carolina averages 9.9 points per game to rank second on the team. Fulmore ranks fourth in the CAA in field goal percentage totaling 52.6% in 26 games. She pulls down 7.3 rebounds a game to rank seventh in the CAA and first on the team. Fulmore has registered six double-doubles this season to rank third in the conference.

The Sky is the Limit
Skye Williams has been on fire this season. Williams is shooting 44.4% from the floor this season to rank 13th in the CAA in field goal percentage. Williams has totaled 11 games where she has finished with 50% or better. The graduate student from Indianapolis, Indiana is averaging a career-best 8.1 pts per game and playing in a career-high 24.1 minutes per game.

Leading the Way
Redshirt junior guard
Kylie Kornegay-Lucas leads the Tigers in points (14.0), assists (3.9), blocks (1.0), steals (2.5) and minutes (30.3) this season. She ranks tied for eighth in the CAA in scoring, eighth in rebounds, fifth in assists, tied for second in steals, sixth in free throw percentage (83.8%) and sixth in blocks. The guard from Camden, Delaware has scored double figures in 23 of the 27 games this season.

Red Hot January
The Tigers are coming off a fantastic month where they recorded a 6-2 record, which included a six-game win streak. The Tigers were perfect at home going 3-0 with a win against the preseason favorite Drexel. Towson scored 71.1 points per game while holding their opponents to only 62.4 points per game. Towson shot 41.9% from the field, including 39.5% from behind the arc.

Lockdown Defender
Kylie Kornegay-Lucas has been a hawk of the defensive side of the ball, leading the team in steals and steals per game. Kornegay-Lucas ranks 41st in the nation and is tied for second in the CAA in steals with 64. The redshirt junior averages 2.5 steals per game to be 37th in the NCAA and is tied for second in the conference in steals per game.

Preseason Honors
Anissa Rivera was picked to Preseason All-CAA First Team after being named All-CAA Preseason Honorable Mention last year. Rivera led the Tigers last season in rebounding, averaging 7.1 boards a game, including a season-best 14 against Frostburg State.

Kylie Kornegay-Lucas was named to the Preseason All-CAA Second Team. Kornegay-Lucas was the 2021-22 CAA Sixth Player of the Year after averaging 8.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game off the bench. The Camden, Del. native led the Tigers in steals with 40 and finished second in assists with 71.

At the Helm
Coach
Laura Harper was announced as the Head Coach of Towson's women's basketball program in April. This is her first season in charge of the Tigers. Harper previously coached Coppin State for the last two years. She inherits a squad that went 24-8 and made a WNIT appearance last year.

The Tigers hold a 78-57 (.578) home record since SECU Arena was built, including a 32-18 (.640) record against non-conference opponents. Towson holds a 46-40 (.535) against CAA foes. The Tigers boast a 6-1 record in conference play this year.

Preseason Poll
The CAA announced its annual Preseason Poll to start the season. The Tigers were picked to finish fifth but received two first-place votes, the second most of any CAA team. Drexel was picked to finish first, receiving 10 votes.

Tigers In the Postseason
Towson has reached the postseason three times in the past 15 years. The team made its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2019. They also advanced to the WBI in 2010. Towson earned their second trip to the Postseason WNIT after a 24-8 season last year.

Scouting Stony Brook
The Seawolves bring in the same record as Towson into SECU Arena. Stony Brook ranks second in the CAA in scoring offense averaging 68.3 points. The Seawolves have three of the top 15 scorers in the CAA with Anastasia Warren (16.7), Sherese Pittman (13.7) and Gigi Gonzalez (13.0). Pittman is tied for first in the CAA in rebounds per game averaging 8.2 rebounds, including a league-best 3.4 offensive rebounds. Warren leads the conference in three-pointers made and three-point percentage, making 3.1 threes and shooting 40.1%. Since the last meeting, the Seawolves have registered a 4-3 record, picking up wins against UNCW, Hofstra, Charleston and Hampton, while picking up losses to Drexel, Northeastern and Delaware.Â

Last Time Out Â
The Tigers traveled down to Charleston to face the Cougars in Towson's final road game of the season. The Tigers gained an early lead after going on a 7-2 run to start the game. The team then traded baskets to give the Tigers a 14-8 lead after the first. Towson gained a double-digit lead early in the second, then both teams exchanged baskets as the Tigers had a 28-22 edge at halftime. Towson maintained a consistent lead throughout the third with
Patricia Anumgba scoring seven of her 12 points. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars cut the deficit to four, but the Tigers were able to close out the game.
