Brian Benzing placed 12
th overall in the preliminary heats of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 51.30 on Friday at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, qualifying him for the B final in the evening session. That time is the second-fastest time of Benzing's career, falling just short of his personal best of 51.25 at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships last month.
In the evening session, Benzing took seventh in the consolation heat with a time of 51.48, which placed 15
th overall in the event. That time marks the third fastest time he has ever recorded in the event behind his morning swim in preliminaries and the 51.25 he qualified with at the CAA Championships last month. His finish in the finals session earned him an Honorable Mention All-America in the 100-yard breaststroke.
