Orlando, Fla – The Towson University track and field team has finished the first day of competition in Orlando after completing three field events and two races.
The meet will resume tomorrow, beginning at 10:00 am with the women's hammer throw. Tigers are entered to compete in the high jump, triple jump, hammer throw, 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
How it Happened – Track
- Emily Lunger won her heat of the 400-meter hurdles with a season best time of 1:04.12.
- Cristal Cuervo was the top finisher for the Tigers in the 200-meter dash, placing 11th out of 61 athletes with a time of 24.22.
- Maya Tucker (24.46) and Sydney Tucker (24.70) placed 14th and 16th respectively in the same event. Ty'Liyah Hannah competed in the race as well, clocking a 25.06 which is a PR for the freshman.
How it Happened – Field
- Fatimah Owens placed third overall out of 23 athletes in the discus throw with a mark of 45.93 meters. Georgia Coleman threw 38.93 meters.
- Owens picked up another bronze medal in the shot put after throwing 13.37 meters. Georgia Coleman was right behind her, placing fourth with a mark of 12.69.
- Manie Mevo completed the long jump in 5.40 meters, followed by Aliyah Anderson who won her heat with a PR of 5.27 meters.
