TOWSON, Md. – The
Towson University volleyball team announces that middle blocker Ylenia De Mango has signed, announced on Wednesday by head coach
Don Metil. De Mango is the fifth signing in the 2023 class.
"Ylenia is a good pick-up for us in the middle as we continue to embrace our international recruiting efforts," said Metil. "She jumps well and has the power to be efficient in our league. We have a big void with
Lydia Wiers graduating from the program and I know Ylenia will compete in our gym for a contributing role."
De Mango comes to Towson after playing two seasons at Auburn University at Montgomery. The Bari, Italy native accumulated 492 kills on .290 hitting percentage. She totaled 147 blocks, including 45 solo blocks. Last season, De Mango appeared in all 35 games in 129 sets, finishing second on the team in kills (332) and blocks (88). The middle blocker earned All-Gulf South Coast (GSC) Team and All-GSC Tournament Team honors. She registered double-digit kills in 19 matches including an 18-kill performance against Valdosta State.
