TOWSON, Md. – Former Towson University player
Sekou Sylla will continue his professional career in Finland, signing a contract with Tampereen Pyrintö for the 2023-24 season.
After the 2022-23 season, Sylla began his professional career with the North-West Tasmania Thunder, earning Team MVP recognition after leading the team in each scoring with 21.8 points per game and rebounds with 12.1 boards a contest, adding 1.12 steals a game.
Sylla, the 2021-22 DII Player of the Year at Nova Southeastern, played 33 games for Towson last season, averaging 5.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
Tampereen Pyrintö competes in the Korisliiga, the top league in Finland. Several Towson players have competed in the Korisliiga, including Brian Fobbs for the Vilpas Vikings in 2021-22, Mike Morsell for the Kobrat Lapua in 2018-19 and Kurk Lee for Torpan Pojat in 1996-97.
