TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming & diving team defeated Drexel 162-138 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in Philadelphia Saturday afternoon. The Tiger women fell to the Dragons 169-131.
Bridget Thomas won two individual races,
Shannon Parrau won on both boards and
Tiffany Matulis picked up a win.
Brian Benzing and
Aidan Clark each won two events, while
Julian Maycock,
David Walton and
Sean Colson each won one. The Tigers won one of two relays.
How it Happened
For the Women:
- The 200-medley relay of Ally Frame, Tiffany Matulis, Riley Willett and Claire Ryland took second with a time of 1:45.49.
- Bridget Thomas (10:31.11) and Victoria Dichak (10:51.21) finished 1-2 in the 1000 free.
- Addie Scott (1:54.30) and Thomas (1:57.47) finished second and third in the 200 free.
- Frame (58.00) and Janine Murphy (58.33) took third and fourth in the 100 back.
- Matulis won the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.51.
- Samantha Casolo took third in the 200 fly (2:08.58).
- Ryland took second in the 50 free (24.28).
- Shannon Parrau (270.90), Abby O'Leary (227.25) and Hayley Beutel (213.23) swept the podium in the 1-meter dive.
- Scott took second in the 100 free (53.02). Ryland finished third (53.51).
- Maddie Frick took third in the 200 back (2:08.49).
- Britney Denny (2:24.38) and Matulis (2:25.90) finished second and third in the 200 breast.
- Thomas (5:09.95) and Scott (5:13.90) finished 1-2 in the 500 free.
- Riley Willet finished third in the 100 fly (58.15).
- Parrau (255.68) and O'Leary (236.40) took first and second in the 3-meter dive.
- Denny took second in the 200 IM (2:10.76).
- Scott, Ryland, Kleckner and Murphy took second in the 400-free relay (3:36.24).
For the Men:
- Evan Bota, Brian Benzing, Benjamin Eischeid and Daniel McLaughlin won the 200-medley with a time of 1:30.78.
- Teddy Ament finished second in the 1000 free (9:45.91).
- McLaughlin (1:44.58), TJ Bearor (1:44.79) and Stephen McDonald (1:44.95) finished 2-3-4 in the 200 free.
- Sean Colson (51.11) and Reed Sells (51.35) took second and third in the 100 back.
- Benzing (53.84), Julian Maycock (59.07) and David Walton (59.73) swept the podium in the 100 breast.
- Carson Bauer (1:55.10), Theo Dietrich (1:55.78) and Ian Lee (1:59.53) went 2-3-4 in the 200 fly.
- Luke Schwar took second in the 50 free (20.93).
- Aidan Clark took first in the 1-meter dive with 283.65 points. Grady Gardner took third (221.03).
- Benzing took second in the 100 free with a time of 45.46. Schwar took third (46.04).
- Colson took first in the 200 back at 1:49.69.
- Maycock (2:07.40) and Walton (2:10.14) went 1-2 in the 200 breast.
- Ament (4:40.30) and Blakely Dean (4:48.38) finished second and third in the 500 free.
- Benzing won the 100 fly with a time of 49.08 Evan Bota finished third (51.57).
- Clark took first on the 3-meter board (264.30). Gradner finished third (225.08).
- Walton won the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.44. Maycock took third (1:57.16).
- Eischeid, McLaughlin, Bearor and Schwar took second in the 400-free relay (3:06.06).
On Deck:
Both Tiger squads return to Burdick Pool next Saturday, Jan. 27, to face the Delaware Blue Hens for Senior Day. Diving starts at 10:00 a.m. Swimming will follow at noon.
