Towson University Athletics and the Tiger Athletic Fund are unveiling a new way to recognize Tiger supporters through the creation of the Black & Gold Society. This new giving society is comprised of six different categories that pay tribute to donors for their lifetime giving, consecutive years of philanthropy and those who make Towson Athletics part of their planned giving. Lifetime milestones will be recognized at $25,000, $100,000, $250,000 and $500,000. Donors will also be celebrated for their loyalty after five consecutive years of giving.
"We are excited to roll out this program to recognize and thank our most distinguished donors in a new way. The Black & Gold Society is a great opportunity to reflect on our history of private support and encourage future philanthropy conversations amongst our TAF members." – Steve Eigenbrot, Towson Athletics Director
Until now, the Tiger Athletic Fund has primarily focused on thanking donors for current year contributions and gifts tied to the annual fund. The Black & Gold Society provides the opportunity to thank people for their historical contributions to Towson Athletics and recognize the longevity of their private support.
Once a donor has achieved lifetime giving of $25,000 or included Towson Athletics part of a planned gift, a donor would become a member of the Black & Gold Society for life.
To preserve the varying tax deductibility status around private support, the Black & Gold Society is tied to your recognition as a member and does not feature a benefits chart like membership in the Tiger Athletic Fund. Instead, the society will feature invites to special recognition for donors, as well as other unique opportunities for each of the levels within the Black & Gold Society.
In the coming weeks, Tiger Athletic Fund donors will receive an email from a TAF staff member that breaks down lifetime giving history to Towson Athletics, consecutive years of giving and total number of years a gift has been made to the department. At that time, our team will be happy to discuss questions regarding the giving society and the various levels.
We look forward to discussing this new program with you in the very near future.
