BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Towson University cross country team completed the 50
th annual Paul Short Run in 24
th place out of 35 teams, which is the highest finish for the Tigers at this meet since 2021. The Black & Gold finished ahead of Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) foe Hofstra.
The eight Tigers representing Towson at this event ran an average 6k time of 23:22.9, backed by five athletes running times under 24 minutes. The average time and spread at this year's Paul Short were both over a minute faster than last season's.
Isabella Myles was Towson's top performer, clocking a 22:40.5 which marks her fourth fastest 6k time. Myles had the team's fastest midway split, coming in at 10:44.4 for the 3k mark. She placed 45
th out of 286 runners. The graduate student's time also ranks in Towson's top-50 all-time on this course.
Baara Stewart clocked a PR of 23:02.7, which is over one minute faster than her time on the same course at last year's Paul Short Run. The sophomore ran the team's fastest first mile split, hitting 5:45.3 at the mark. Like Myles, Stewart's time also ranks in Towson's top-50 all-time on Lehigh's course.
Abbey Frock crossed the finish line in 23:23.5 which is a new PR for the graduate student by over 20 seconds.
Rebekka Hillier ran a 23:53.5 for her first collegiate 6k race.
Lexi Mogensen finished two spots behind her, clocking a 23:54.0 which is nearly 20 seconds faster than her time on the course last season. The mark is also only five seconds off her PR in the event.
Jennifer Maxwell and
Mari Collick ran 24:23.2 and 24:54.6 respectively.
Vallerya Rojas rounded out the squad with a time of 25:54.2.
Up next, the Tigers head back to Pennsylvania for the Aubrey Shenk Invitational hosted by Gettysburg on October 19 before attending the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) hosted at Elon University on November 1.
