TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University Men's and Women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2024-2025 seasons at Burdick Pool in a tri-meet vs Old Dominion and Johns Hopkins. The women's team took a 237-56 win, the men's team drew with Old Dominion at 143.5 a piece.

How it Happened:
For the Women:

• The 200 Medley team of Martina Ciriesi, Tiffany Matulis, Riley Willett, and Claire Ryland won with a time 1:46.67.
• Bridget Thomas (10:36.57) and Danielle McCarthy (10:46.16) took the top two spots on the podium in the 1000 Free.
• Addie Scott won the 200 Free with a 1:52.94 time.
• Matulis (1:06.88) and Ellie Newman (1:07.98) took the top two spots in the 100 Breast.
• Britney Denny (2:08.90) and Laura Gaffney (2:09.03) got first and second respectively in the 200 Fly.
• Ryland (23.64), Marissa Kleckner (24.13), and Bjartey Gudmundsottir (24.37) swept the podium in the 50 Free.
• Ryland also won the 100 Free with a time of 52.44.
• Scott (2:03.42) and Madison Neal (2:05.95) took first and second in the 200 Back.
• Denny (2:25.80) and Newman (2:26.44) claimed the top two spots in the 200 Breast
• Thomas placed first in the 500 Free with a time of 5:14.27, with Danielle McCarthy in second at 5:17.12.
• Willett (57.77) and Ciriesi (58.53) took the top two spots in the 100 Fly.
• Ciriesi won the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.56, Sophia Cerimele came in second with a time of 2:11.30.
• The quartet of Gudmundsottir, Kleckner, Scott, and Ryland won the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:36.42.

For the Men:

• Anthony Mortellite won the 1000 Free with a time of 9:38.53.
• Sean Colson took first in the 200 Back with a time of 1:53.38, David Walton came in third with a time of 1:56.38.
• The team of Colson, Geoffrey Cradock, Ben Eischeid, and Luke Schwar came in second place in the 200 Medley with a time of 1:33.26.
• Stephen McDonald claimed second place in the 200 Free with a time of 1:44.27.
• Cradock grabbed second in the 100 Breast at 57.86.
• Blakely Dean (1:56.48) and Ian Lee (1:56.67) came in second and third in the 200 Fly.
• Schwar (21.44) and Daniel McLaughlin (21.63) took second and third in the 50 Free. They also came in second (Schwar: 46.86) and third (McLaughlin: 47.73) in the 100 Free.
• The 200 Free Relay team of Colson, Scwar, TJ Bearor, and McLaughlin came in second with a time of 1:24.60. Eischeid, McDonald, Hugo Haggard, and Julian Najarro came in third with a time of 1:25.12.

 
On Deck:

• The Black & Gold have a pair of dual meets next weekend, Towson visits La Salle on Friday with diving starting at noon. The Tigers then host Seton Hall at Burdick Pool on Saturday, diving begins at 10:00 a.m.
