QUEENS, N.Y. – The Towson University track & field team started off its 2024-2025 indoor season at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational hosted by St. Johns. The Black & Gold finished with 11 PR's, 10 marks in the program top 10 all-time list, six gold medal performances, and two new school records.

How it Happened – Track
Leeann Redlo placed second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.86,
Niomi Allison (9.08) came in third followed by
Morgan Lane (9.12) in fourth.
In the 60m dash,
Maya Tucker and
Cristal Cuervo took the top two spots on the podium with times of 7.59 and 7.69 respectively. Freshman
Nancy Hudson won the second heat and finished third overall with a PR time of 7.78,
Stella Anani (7.88) finished third in the second heat.
Jasmine Scott (57.26) and
Spencer Settle (57.28) finished .02 seconds apart to claim first and second in the 400m dash. Those times are also the fifth and sixth best times in the 400m in program history.
The first new Towson record of the meet was set by
Piper Jons in her first official Towson race. The Elon transfer ran a 1:32.17 in the 600m run, over three seconds faster than the previous record in the event.
The Towson record in the 300m dash was broken twice, first by Cuervo with a time of 38.47 to also win the event.
Maya Tucker also broke the old record and finished second in the event with a 38.81 time.
Christal Pommells (40.87) and
Qiora Rollins (40.88) finished a hundredth of a second apart to claim the seventh and eighth spots on the all-time list.
The 4x400 relay (
Maya Tucker (57.57),
Cristal Cuervo (57.20),
Piper Jons (55.94),
Jasmine Scott (57.60)) closed out the meet with the Tigers sixth gold medal performance, running the fourth fastest time in school history of 3:48.29.
How it Happened - Field
Marisa D'Angelo made the first new Towson top ten all-time list entry of the evening. D'Angelo won the pole vault with a mark of 3.55m, the fifth best mark in Towson history.
Beyonka Lee set two new PRs during the meet. The sophomore's mark of 12.35m in the shot put was good for fourth place overall. Lee broke her previous PR in the weight throw by 3.67m with a 16.19m mark to finish third in the event.
The Tigers had three of the top five finishers in the long jump with
Kiara Murray placing third with a mark of 5.48m, just missing the program's top 10 all-time list.
Aniyah Toppin and
Leeann Redlo both put up 5.45m marks to take the last two spots in the top five.
Redlo won the high jump with 1.65m mark, and Denée Hibbert wrapped up the field events finishing second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.78m, sixth best in Towson history.
Omokemi Balogun (11.71m) and
Kiara Murray (11.51m) placed third and fourth in the event.
