LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Towson track & field team wrapped up two days of competition at the Darius Dixon Memorial with multiple PRs, all-time marks and one new school record.
How It Happened – Track
Maya Tucker clocked a 7.59 in the 60m dash on Friday night, placing seventh to qualify for finals. She posted a 7.61 on Saturday for third place.
Cristal Cuervo crossed the finish line in 55.85 for the 400m dash invite section, nearly winning her heat.
Aubrey Schaffer shaved nine seconds off her previous PR in the 5000m, setting a new personal best of 18:15.08 to finish second overall in the open session.
The 300m squad found success in the event, as three Tigers posted new PRs.
Sydney Tucker ran the fastest time for Towson, clocking a 40.20 which ranks second all-time in program history.
Ty'Liyah Hannah ran a 40.83, the fourth fastest time in school history.
Kelis Milburn finished the event in 41.75, nearly a two second PR for the freshman.
Cristal Cuervo and
Maya Tucker ran 24.29 and 24.43 in the 200m respectively. Both athletes achieved top-10 finishes.
Both Black & Gold relays had strong performances. The distance medley relay made history after breaking the school record in a time of 12:14.07. The group consisted of Tigers
Lexi Mogensen (3:44.16 – 1200m),
Satori Valentine (57.79 – 400m),
Baara Stewart (2:16.25 – 800m) and
Aubrey Schaffer (5:15.88 – 1600m).
The 4x400 relay clocked a season best 3:49.00 to place third out of 18 teams. The squad of
Maya Tucker (57.53),
Satori Valentine (57.30),
Cristal Cuervo (55.10) and
Ty'Liyah Hannah (59.08) ran the third fastest time in program history.
How It Happened – Field
Fatimah Owens tossed 17.74m in the weight throw on Friday night which is her second best mark this season. The senior picked up a new PR in the shot put the following day, earning a mark of 14.43 for ninth place in a field of 55 athletes.
Marisa D'Angelo hit a mark of 3.20m in her first indoor pole vault competition, which ranks 10
th all-time.
Denee Hibbert posted a new PR of 5.52m in the long jump. The junior earned a podium finish, placing third out of 57 athletes in the open section.
Leeann Redlo placed third in the high jump invite finals with a height of 1.73m.
Skylar Galiano-Holmes finished ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.73m, which is her second-best mark.
Kiara Murray earned a PR of 11.29m in the event.
