On The Road Again
The Tigers are back on the road, this week heading up north to Durham, New Hampshire for a quad meet hosted by East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) foe UNH on Sunday February 11. This marks the second time this season the Tigers and Wildcats compete against each other.
EAGL Matchup
This weekend is a EAGL designated meet for Towson and New Hampshire making it the Tigers second conference matchup of the season. The outcome of Sunday will affect the Black & Gold's conference record. Currently the Tigers are 2-0 in conference meets.
In The Mountains
The Black & Gold are coming off of a dual meet with Denver where they fell to the Pioneers, 195.600 - 198.000, after posting a season high final score.
The Tigers strongest rotation was floor where they posted their second highest score of the season - 49.200. The team's second 49 of the meet came from bars, 49.100, which was also the second highest score of the season on the event.
Grace Vaillancourt posted Towson's highest individual finish, tying for third with her second highest score this season on floor of 9.875.
Isabella Minervini logged the highest event score for the team, recording a 9.900 on bars for a fifth place finish. This score marked her fourth consecutive 9.9 or better of the season.
Sarah Girot picked up a new career high during her first bars performance of the season after receiving a 9.875.
Elise Tisler and
Retoshia Halsell posted a pair of 9.850s for a share of fourth place.
The Towson Special
Following her performance at Denver, senior
Grace Vaillancourt picked up Towson's second EAGL weekly award this season as she was named Specialist of the Week.
Elise Tisler received the same weekly award on January 17.
1000 Point Club
Vailliancourt became the newest Tiger to score over 1000 points for the team throughout her time competing for Towson. Other members currently on the team are
Jenna Weitz and
Camille Vitoff. Weitz and Vitoff have aso competed in the most meets in program history for the team. Weitz has 59 meets under her belt while Vitoff has 58.
Scouting The Wildcats
The last time Towson faced New Hampshire was at the home opener on January 26 in TU Arena, where the Tigers captured their first victory of the season after topping George Washington, Cornell and New Hampshire. The Wildcats were the runner up of the meet, posting a 194.475.
Since then New Hampshire has hosted Southern Connecticut State for a dual meet on February 4, where the 'Cats secured their seventh win of the season with a final score of 194.550. Kylie Gorgenyi was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week following the meet after posting three first place finishes on vault (9.850), bars (9.875) and all-around (39.125). Currently she is ranked first in the conference in all-around and second on vault. Serena Mullin was another highlight of the meet as she became the first UNH gymnast to score a 9.950 on floor in nine years.
Floor has proven to be the strongest event this season for the Wildcats as they have posted two team scores of 49.150 and above. The top five individual highest scorers on the event have posted 9.850 or better.

Scouting the Brown Bears
The Bears were ranked second in the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) preseason poll, released by the league on December 11, 2023.
Brown is coming off a dual meet victory with GEC member Yale, picking up the third straight win of the season. The Bears put up a season high 194.025, posting scores of 48.000 or better on all three events.
Brown's highest event score this season comes from floor, where it posted a 49.1250 at the season opener. At the most recent meet the Bears put up a 48.950, their second best score on the event this season.
Julia Bedwell has the teams top scores on vault (9.850) and floor (9.900) while Jessica Lin holds the top beam score (9.900). Asta-Sollilja Farrell has the top bars score (9.875). Bedell and Lin have picked up GEC Weekly awards this season, both receiving Specialist of the Week.

Scouting The Scarlet Knights
Rutgers was voted to finish 10th in the league in the Big Ten preseason poll, released on December 13, 2023.
The Scarlet Knights posted a season high 195.800 at a dual meet with Penn State on January 25, falling to the Nittany Lions by less than .500. Rutgers posted a season high 49.300 on floor at the meet as well.
Beam has been steadily improving for the Scarlet Knights throughout the six meets so far as they posted a season high 49.125 at their most recent stint against Big Ten conference foe Iowa.
Emily Leese holds the teams top vault (9.900) and floor (9.925) scores while Avery Balser has the top bars score (9.875). Rachael Riley holds the top beam score as the only athlete with a 9.900. These three athletes have the only individual scores of 9.9 or above on the team for their respective events so far this season.
