Halsell, Minervini Receive EAGL Weekly Honors

TOWSON, Md. – Two gymnasts from the Towson University gymnastics team received East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) weekly honors, announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.
 
Isabella Minervini was named EAGL Specialist of the week while Retoshia Halsell picked up her second consecutive Rookie of the Week award.
 
At the George Washington quint meet on February 16 Minervini posted a collegiate career high 9.975 on bars, picking up her fourth victory on the event this season and receiving a perfect 10.0 from one judge for the first time in her collegiate career. The sophomore became the first Towson gymnast to post a 9.975 on the event and now ranks second in program history. Currently Minervini ranks first in EAGL and 12th in the NCAA on bars with a 9.911 average.
 
Retoshia Halsell earned her second consecutive Rookie of the Week following her performances at GW's quint meet. The freshman matched her career high 9.850 on vault which was her third time posting that score this season. Her efforts contributed to Towson posting a season high and third best score in program history on the event. Halsell also posted the Tigers highest score of the night on floor, logging a collegiate career high 9.875 for fourth place.
 
Towson returns home this Friday February 23 at 6 p.m. for an EAGL tri meet at TU arena with Temple and LIU.
