The Tigers are back on the road, heading to West Virginia University for a quad meet with Pittsburgh and Western Michigan on March 3 at 2 p.m.
Penn State Quad Recap
Towson placed second at the Friday night quad meet in Happy Valley on March 1, finishing ahead of #25 Ball State and West Virginia but ultimately falling to #22 Penn State 196.775 - 196.825.
The Tigers logged 49's on all four events for the third time this season with their highest score of the night coming from vault where they earned a season high and second-best score in program history. The team put up a 49.325 for the best vault score out of all four teams, supported by five gymnasts posting 9.825s or better.
Three Tigers placed first individually on vault, bars and floor with scores of 9.900 or better.
Career High Tracker
The Tigers tally 41 career highs this season so far as two more were earned at the Penn State quad meet.
Elise Tisler posted a 9.975 on vault which is the second-best score on the event in program history while
Felicia Poblete logged a personal best of 9.875 on the same event.
Finding Success on the Road
The Black & Gold's final team score on Friday night marked the highest away score recorded in program history. It was also the second best score this season for the Tigers.
Aside from their program record and season high 197.425 recorded at home last week, the Tigers next four top team scores of the 2024 campaign have been achieved at away meets.
It's a 10!
Four Tigers have received a perfect 10.0 from one judge in their respective events so far this season.
Isabella Minervini has picked up two 10s at two separate meets on bars (Feb. 16 & Feb. 23).
Elise Tisler has earned two 10s as well, one on her floor routine at the last home meet (Feb. 23) and one on vault this past Friday (March 1).
Retoshia Halsell received a 10 from one judge on floor at the February 23 meet while
Grace Vaillancourt earned one at the same meet for her bars performance.
Scouting the Mountaineers
Towson last faced West Virginia at the Penn State quad, defeating the Mountaineers 196.775-195.800. West Virginia posted its highest score of the season after logging scores of 48.975 or better on each event. The best score of the night came from bars where the Mountaineers posted a 49.150. Two athletes earned podium finishes.

Scouting the Panthers
Pittsburgh and Towson are old rivals as the Panthers used to be a part of the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL). After joining the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) this season, Pittsburgh is currently 1-5 in conference meets.
In the ACC preseason poll, released by the league in December of 2023, Pitt was predicted to finish fourth. Two Panthers, Jah'liyah Bedminster and Reyna Garvey, were named to the 2024 Preseason Watch List. Emily Todd was named to the 2024 Newcomer Watch List.
The Panthers have broken 196 once this season in a dual meet with ACC foe North Carolina, where they dominated the Tar Heels 196.525-194.875 on February 2.
Pittsburgh's strength comes from floor as they have posted 49.0 or better on the event for the past six consecutive meets.
Jah'liyah Bedminster holds the team's top vault score of 9.950 as the only Panther to break 9.9 on the event. Emily Todd has the top bars score for Pittsburgh at 9.900 while Hallie Copperwheat has the top beam spot at 9.900 as well. Jordyn Ewing has a season best of 9.925 for the Panthers top floor mark.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan was predicted to finish third in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Preseason Poll, announced by the league on January 5. Two graduate students, Amanda Gruber and Payton Murphy, were named 2024 MAC Gymnasts to Watch.
The Broncos have seen a fair share of 196's this season, posting four team scores above that mark. The team's season high 196.425 was achieved on January 28, at a dual meet with Bowling Green. Western Michigan finds most success on floor, hitting the 49 mark at seven consecutive meets this season. The Broncos posted a season high 49.500 on the event at their most recent meet on February 24.
Sarah Moravansky holds the team's top vault and bars scores with 9.900s on both events. Amanda Gruber has posted the top beam and floor scores for the Broncos, logging 9.900 and 9.950 respectively.
