TOWSON, Md. – Towson University women's lacrosse head coach
Kristen Carr and former Tiger defender
Tianna Wallpher were named to the 2024 United States Women's Box Team, announced by USA Lacrosse today.
The 23-player roster includes 20 runners and three goalies.
The team will participate in the inaugural 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships in Utica. N.Y.
The U.S. women's box team will start its tournament on Friday, September 20
th at 4 pm against the Netherlands, then follow up with the Haudenosaunee on Saturday, September 21
st. The USA take on Hong Kong on Sunday, September at 5:30 pm, before wrapping up group play against England on Tuesday, September 24
th.
Carr is currently a member of the USA Lacrosse Board of Directors and is one of the most successful U.S. women's team players ever. She spent 14 years as a starting defender on the U.S. National Women's Lacrosse team - winning gold medals at the 2013 and 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women's World Cup championships. Towson recently hired Carr as its tenth head coach in program history.
Wallpher was a three-time All-CAA First Team and All-American Honorable Mention defender during her time at Towson. She ranks fourth all-time in program history in caused turnovers with 107 and ranks sixth and ninth in most caused turnovers in a season. The Ellicott City, Maryland native was part of the 2016 CAA Championship team that was a member of the Tiger defensive unit that ranked among the Top-10 in the nation for scoring defense all season.
