ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Towson University men's golf team opened the 2024 season at the Howard/USF Invitational. The Tigers finished in 7
th place with a final score of 861(+21) over three rounds at Manor Country Club in Rockville, Md. Towson had rounds of 288-284-289.
Michael Matheson tied the best round score of the tournament shooting 4-under par in the second round on Monday afternoon. Matheson (71-66-70) would finish fourth overall in the 72-player field and his final score of 3-under par made him one of only six who finished the tournament under par. Matheson made the third most birdies in the tournament with thirteen through all three rounds.
Ariihau Faana finished in 15
th place highlighted by a 1-under par second round. Faana made ten birdies in the tournament – one of 17 golfers to do so. Faana finished the tournament 3-over par with rounds of 72-69-72.
Sky Aung (71-72-82) and
Poon Nantsupawat (74-77-74) tied for 44
th at 15-over par.
Adam Green (78-78-73) rounded out the squad, he birdied three holes in a four-hole stretch in round one and had a birdie or par on 15 of 18 holes in round three.
