LANDOVER, Md. – The Towson University track & field team entered the Catholic Cardinal Classic on Saturday. The Tigers came away with four gold medal performances and
Piper Jons's fourth addition to the program top 10 record book in three meets this season.
How it Happened – Track
Abbey Frock finished fourth in the 5000m run recording a PR time of 18:40.33. Freshmen
Vallerya Rojas and
Rebecca Farris also ran PR times in the event
Piper Jons (7.68),
Stella Anani (7.91) and
Nancy Hudson (7.93) all qualified for the finals heat of the 60m Dash. In the finals, Jons repeated her 7.68 time to win the event, Anani finished fourth (7.86) and Hudson (7.92) in sixth. Jons's 7.68 is the 9
th fastest time in program history in the event.
Morgan Lane ran the fastest time in the 60mH prelims (9.05) to qualify for the finals heat. Lane finished fourth in the finals.
Jons also won the 200m dash with a time of 24.26,
Qiora Rollins placed fourth in the event.
The team of
Kelis Milburn,
Spencer Settle, Rollins and
Christal Pommells won the 4x400m relay.
Rounding out the track events: Milburn and
Niomi Allison finished fifth and seventh respectively in the 400m, and
Lexi Mogensen and
Baara Stewart finished sixth and seventh in the 800m.
How it Happened - Field
Leeann Redlo won the high jump posting a 1.67 mark.
Aniyah Toppin (10.68) and Camryn McMurray (10.48) placed fourth and fifth in the triple jump, and Toppin and
Chayce Bryson finished sixth and eighth in the long jump.

The Black & Gold are heading up north to Staten Island, New York next weekend for the Dr. Sander Invite Columbia Challenge hosted by Columbia University from Jan 24-25. Events on both days will begin at 10:00 a.m.
