NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Towson University track & field team finished day one of the Dr. Sander Scorcher hosted by Columbia University. The Tigers set two new program records and added two other new marks to the program top-10 list.
How it Happened – Track
Isabella Myles ran a 25 second season best in the open 3000m with a time of 10:31.17.
Maya Tucker placed fourth in the 60m invitational prelims with a time of 7.69 to qualify for the finals heat.
Cristal Cuervo ran 7.79 and placed 14
th. Tucker placed third in the finals heat with a time of 7.60.
Leeann Redlo finished the 60mH with a time of 8.79, a personal record which allowed Redlo to claim sole possession of the fifth fasted 60mH time in Towson history. She had previously been tied for fifth with Kaitlyn Davis.
Freshman
Nancy Hudson won the open 60m dash with a time of 7.78.
Piper Jons broke her second solo record of the season when she became the first Towson runner to run the indoor 400m in under 54 seconds. Jons placed second in the 400m invitational with a time of 53.70.
Baara Stewart's time of 2:14.72 in the 800m invitational is the second-best time in Tiger history and the fastest time ran since Maureen Shaneman's record 2:12.51 time in 1988.
The team of
Lexi Mogensen (1200m: 3:40.87), Cuervo (400m: 56.25), Stewart (800m: 2:16.30) and
Rebekka Hillier (1600m: 5:05.77) set a Towson record in the Distance Medley Relay and were the first DMR team in school history to run the event in under 12 minutes with a time of 11:59.18.
How it Happened – Field
Leeann Redlo placed second in the high jump invitational with a season best mark of 1.73m.
