ELON, N.C. – The Towson University track & field team wrapped up day one of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Outdoor Championship at Elon University on Friday, tied place with 20 points alongside Monmouth. William & Mary leads the team standings with 52 points, while host Elon sits second with 42 points after six of 21 scored events.
Heptathlon
Senior Leeann Redlo leads the leaderboard after day one with 3,297 points, while freshman Desirae Hernandez sits in second place with 3,033 points.
Redlo opened the day with a first-place finish in the 100m hurdles, clocking 14.04. Hernandez recorded a personal best in the event, placing fourth in 14.40.
In the high jump, Redlo matched her personal-best mark by clearing 1.82m on her third attempt, finishing 0.15m ahead of the runner-up. Hernandez added a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 11.02m.
The duo closed out the day in the 200m, where Redlo placed third in 25.93 and Hernandez followed closely in fourth with a time of 25.95.
Field Events
In the hammer throw, Olamide Enajekpo placed fifth with a 58.18m mark. Denise Kamgaing followed in eighth after clearing 51.77m.
In the long jump, Redlo secured a fourth-place finish with a mark of 5.79m. Kiara Murray followed in sixth at 5.66m, and Aniyah Toppin placed eighth after clearing 5.65m.
Freshman Brunell Owusu placed fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.95m.
Track Events
In the 100m hurdles prelims, Redlo secured a spot in the finals after finishing in fifth place with a personal-best finish of 14.01.
Three Tigers secured their spot in the 400m finals: Qiora Rollins (third, 55.39), Mydison Britton (fourth, 54.85) and Jasmine Scott (seventh, 55.25).
In the 100m prelims, freshman Kadidja Ouattara posted a time of 12.01, good enough for fifth place and a spot in tomorrow's finals.
In the 800m prelims, junior Baara Stewart (fourth, 2:09.28) and senior Layla James (seventh, 2:10.98) placed within the top eight to qualify for finals.
In the 200m prelims, Brianna Easley (fifth, 24.25) and Jaylynn Dorsey (seventh, 24.35) secured a spot in tomorrow's 200m finals.
