TOWSON, Md. – Towson University football players
Evan Rutkowski and
Florian Staehler have been selected to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team, announced by CSC on Tuesday.
Rutkowski repeats as a CSC Academic All-District® Team honoree while Staehler picks up his first yearly honor.
To be eligible, nominees must be a starter or important reserve, must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate studies and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Rutkowski started all 12 games at linebacker for Towson, finishing with 32 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. He had four games with at last four tackles for the Tigers. The redshirt junior is currently majoring in business administration – marketing.
Staehler was Towson's starting left guard in all 12 games, anchoring a line which averaged 164.9 rushing yards a game, including two rushers who averaged at least six yards per rush. The redshirt junior is a business administration – international business major.
This is the seventh year in a row where at least one Towson football player has been recognized on the CSC Academic All-District® Teams:
