GREENSBORO, N.C. – The day after Halloween will spark the start of November for the Towson University football team as the Tigers play at North Carolina A&T on Nov. 1 at noon in Greensboro.
 
The game will be broadcast online on FloCollege with Spencer Turkin, Daimeon Banks and Reiven Douglas on the call. In addition, 
Spiro Morekas and Gordy Combs will have the radio call on Towsontigers.com from Truist Stadium.
 
Towson fell in its third straight game at Stony Brook 27-19 on Saturday to enter at 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the CAA.  N.C. A&T came back to defeat Campbell 28-24 on Saturday to be 2-6 overall and 2-2 in the CAA.  Nov. 1 will be N.C. A&T's third-straight home game.
 
Towson and N.C. A&T will play for the third time in as many seasons since the Aggies joined the CAA in 2023.  Towson won the first two meetings: in Towson 31-13 on Nov. 16, 2024 and in Greensboro 42-32 on Nov. 4, 2023.
 
Following this game, Towson will be home for the first time in nearly a month, hosting Villanova on Nov. 8 at Unitas.
 
THIRD YEAR IN PETE SHINNICK ERA
Towson enters its third season under head coach 
Pete Shinnick in 2025.  Under coach Shinnick, Towson has a 15-16 record, including three victories over then-top-15 teams, including a 34-27 win vs. then-#12/10 William & Mary on Oct. 5, 2024.
 
Towson has had five head coaches in program history: Carl Runk (1969-71), Phil Albert (1972-91), Gordy Combs (1992-2008), Rob Ambrose (2009-22) and 
Pete Shinnick (2023-pres.).
 
BRODIE, TERRY EARN PRESEASON ALL-CAA
Towson defensive backs 
Myles Brodie and 
Xavier Terry have been placed on the 2025 CAA Preseason All-Conference Team.  In addition, two more Tigers, 
John Dunmore and 
Rodney Roane Jr., were chosen as CAA Football Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention.
 
Brodie was a 2024 All-CAA Third Team defensive back for Towson, having the team lead with two interceptions and nine pass break-ups.  The redshirt senior cornerback added 44 tackles and had a four-game streak with at least one pass break-up.
 
Terry has been in the top-two for Towson in tackles in each of the past two seasons, including last year tallying up 82 tackles, five pass break-ups, an interception and two forced fumbles.  The redshirt senior safety had at least four tackles in all 12 games last season.
 
In his first full year with the team in 2024, Dunmore was Towson's leader in receiving yards with 619 and receiving touchdowns with five.  Also serving as a special teams returner, the redshirt senior wide receiver had at least 35 receiving yards in 10 games last year.
 
Roane played all 12 games at linebacker in 2024, finishing second on the team with four sacks, adding 58 tackles and five tackles for loss.  The senior had at least three tackles in all 12 games last season.
 
IT'S TIME TO START RUNNING!
Towson will have new players carrying the ball with all running backs recording yards last year having departed, including 
Devin Matthews and 
Tyrell Greene Jr., who each averaged 6+ yards a carry in 2024.
 
Graduate transfer 
Al Wooten II, who played at Mercer and Duke, has taken the lead on carries, rushing 91 times for 308 yards and three scores.  True freshman 
Kemarrion Battles has 59 rushing attempts for 240 yards and one touchdown.
 
MOVING UP THE SACKS LIST
During the Shinnick era, Towson has caused more pressure on the quarterback with 33 sacks in 2024.  With 29 sacks in 2023, Towson has had its top two sack totals in a season since 2013.  Towson's six sacks vs. N.C. A&T on Nov. 16, 2024 ties the most amount in a game for the Tigers since having seven at Villanova on Oct. 27, 2012.

The Tigers were predicted to finish sixth in the league in the preseason coaches poll.  Towson received 108 points in the poll.  Defending CAA co-champion Rhode Island is predicted to finish first followed by Monmouth and Villanova.

TIGERS IN THE PROS
Several Tigers have been competing in the professional ranks after their time with the Black & Gold.
 
Carter Runyon was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Las Vegas Raiders, later being placed on the practice squad.  He was elevated to the active roster on Sept. 28, making his professional debut vs. the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 5.  It is the second straight year where Towson has had an undrafted free agent signing, with Robert Javier signing with the Tennessee Titans in 2024.
 
Another Towson alum, Grant Udinski '19, is the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025.  A 2018 CSC Academic All-America® First Team defensive lineman, he spent the last three years as assistant OC for the Minnesota Vikings.
 
In the CFL, Tibo Debaillie '21 is playing his fifth year as a professional, including season four with the BC Lions.  The Belgium native has played 59 career games in the CFL.

LAFOLLETTE - CAMPBELL TROPHY SEMIFINALIST
Bryce LaFollette was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy® on Sept. 24.  The Campbell Trophy®, awarded by the National Football Foundation (NFF), recognizes an individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
 
LaFollette is Towson's punter, averaging 44.3 yards per punt, including six punts over 50 yards and nine landing inside the 20-yard line.  In the classroom, the redshirt junior is set to graduate in the spring with a degree in marketing/business administration.  He is also an active community service contributor with Towson football and in his hometown.
 
INDORF - JERRY RICE AWARD WATCH LIST
Towson is starting a true freshman at quarterback, 
Andrew Indorf.  His play has earned him a spot on the Jerry Rice Award Watch List, the award for the top freshman in FCS play.  The two-time CAA Rookie of the Week is passing 59.7% with 1502 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions.
 
It is the first time Towson has started a true freshman since Peter Athens started six games in 2009.  Indorf was selected to start at QB above 
Sean Brown, Towson's starting QB in 2024, and 
Nathan Kent, the starting QB for the Tigers in 2023.
 
XAVIER TERRY - 200+ CAREER TACKLES
On Oct. 4, 
Xavier Terry surpassed the career 200-tackle mark, all in his time with Towson from 2021-25.  He currently stands with 226 career tackles.
 
A converted linebacker, the 2023 Wardell Turner Scholarship recipient has been a starter at safety for Towson since the beginning of the 
Pete Shinnick era in 2023.  He was the team's leading tackler in 2023 with 75 and was second in 2024 with 82.
 
WILLIAMS - FRED MITCHELL AWARD MIDSEASON WATCH LIST
Caden Williams has been selected as one of 38 players on the 2025 Fred Mitchell Award Midseason Watch List.  The Fred Mitchell Award is given annually to the top place-kicker in FCS, DII, DII, NAIA and NJCAA for excellence on the football field and in the community.
 
Williams, a senior, took over placekicking duties this year along with being the primary kickoff man.  The Allen, Texas native is kicking 83.3% (10-for-12) on field goals, including a 50-yard field goal in the season-opening victory at Norfolk State.  He is also a perfect 18-for-18 on extra point attempts.

SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA A&T: 
North Carolina A&T, in its third year in CAA Football, is under first-year head coach Shawn Gibbs, the team's former running backs coach from 2011-21.
 
Redshirt sophomore Kevin White moved into the starting quarterback role on Sept. 20, throwing 60% for 1,063 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.  Redshirt senior Wesley Graves has rushed 121 times for 480 yards and five touchdowns while Elijah Kennedy was just named CAA Special Teams Player of the Week with two special teams return touchdowns.  Grad student Tim Alderman is fourth in the CAA with 5.5 sacks, totaling 29 tackles.

LAFOLLETTE POWERING PUNTS
Bryce LaFollette is looking to add his name to the Towson record book, currently averaging 43.4 yards per punt in his two seasons at Towson.  That mark would stand as the most yards per punt for a Towson punter in a two-year span.
 
The record is currently held by Shane McDonough, who averaged 42.9 yards per punt in two combined seasons in 2019 and 2021.  The four-year record is held by Sean Landeta, who had 42 yards a punt from 1979-82.
 
RACKING UP RECEIVING TOUCHDOWNS
Towson's primary two wide receivers have combined for nine receiving touchdowns, with 
John Dunmore having five touchdowns and 
Jaceon Doss having four.
 
Dunmore's five receiving touchdowns tie the most for a Tiger in a single season since 2019, when Shane Leatherbury had 12 touchdowns.  Towson's 14 receiving touchdowns are just one away from being the most in a single season since 2019, when Towson had 22 receiving touchdowns.
 
CAA FOOTBALL SHAKEUP
CAA Football will undergo changes following the 2025 season.  Villanova, whom Towson will play on Nov. 8, and William & Mary will depart for the Patriot League in football following this season.  The league will add Sacred Heart, currently an FCS independent, starting in the 2026 season.
 
TOWSON WINS THE BATTLE FOR GREATER BALTIMORE
John Dunmore's TD catch with 24 seconds left returned The Battle for Greater Baltimore trophy to Towson as the Tigers defeated Morgan State 27-22 on Sept. 6 in a matchup of the two closest teams in FCS football, separated by 4.6 miles.
 
Towson is now 24-6 all-time against the Bears, having won eight straight games.  Morgan State's last win in the series came on Sept. 26, 2009, a 12-9 victory in Baltimore.
 
CARL RUNK (1936-2024)
The first-ever head coach of Towson football Carl Runk passed away on Nov. 24, 2024 at the age of 88.
 
He served as head coach for three years from 1969-71, including a 6-2 season in 1970.  He also was head coach of Towson men's lacrosse from 1968-98, leading that team to 262 victories and the 1974 DII national championship.  Runk was inducted into the Towson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.
