SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Towson University Softball team will spend the weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the Battle at the Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina. The Tigers will play one game each against the Chanticleers, Marist College and Kent State and two games against Notre Dame.

Scouting the Opponents:
- Coastal Carolina opened the season with a 3-1 record including two wins over Creighton in the Kickin' Chicken Classic, the first of three home tournaments for the Chanticleers; before dropping a high scoring midweek game against the University of North Carolina. Coastal Carolina hit seven home runs over the five games and have five players with an OPS over 1.000 in at least 15 at-bats. The hosts are lead on the mound by senior Nicolette Picone who has a 2.28 ERA in 15.1 innings through five games.
- Notre Dame is 3-3 so far this season after starting 0-3 before winnings three straight including victories over #15 Missouri and Penn State at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. The Fighting Irish saw four hitters with at least ten at-bats hit for an average of at least .300. On the mound, Notre Dame is led by sophomore Kami Kamzik who holds a 2.44 ERA in 14.1 innings so far this season.
- Kent State began the season at the Camel Stampede hosted by Campbell and hold a 2-3 record with victories over East Tennessee State and UMass. The Golden Flashes are led by senior Delany Robeson who is hitting 8-12 in four games started with a pair of doubles and six RBIs as well as redshirt-sophomore Kendal Leitner who is 7-17 with a homerun. On the mound, Junior Abbey Pochie has a 2.63 ERA in two starts, and freshman Ella Johnson has a 3.00 ERA and ten strikeouts in five relief appearances.
- Marist is off to a 4-1 start after five games at the Texan Classic where it defeated every other team competing once. The Red Foxes have a team batting average over .350 and an OPS over 1.000 through five games headlined by Miah McDonald, Haley Ahr and Isabella Manory who are all hitting at least .500 with OPS's over 1.150. On the mound, Kiley Myers holds a 0.57 ERA in 12.1 innings this season and Maddie Pleasants has struck out ten in 6.2 scoreless innings.
The Season in a Flash:
The Tigers began the 2025 season with a 2-3 record at the Terrier Invite hosted by Wofford University.
Madyson Peters hit 6-12 including the game winning home run in Towson's 5-2 victory over Youngstown State in her first four games back from injury.
Kristin Toland hit 5-12 with a double, triple and homerun over the weekend. Freshman
Kayla Pilson threw four scoreless innings of relief and earned her first career win in her collegiate debut weekend.

Lisa Costello's 30
th season, Towson returns three of its top five batting averages from last season in Junior
Cara Bohner (.305) and
Grace Franczyk (.287) as well as senior
Elizabeth Yoskowitz (.271). Top returners on the mound include sophomore
Amanda Medina who finished with a 3.25 ERA in 66.2 innings as a freshman, and fellow second year player
Faith McCullough who had a 3.32 ERA in 23 relief appearances. The Tigers will also see the return of redshirt senior catcher
Madyson Peters who missed the 2024 season due to injury after being named to the All-CAA First Team in 2023.
Welcome to Towson:
Towson welcomes nine new players to the squad this season to replace thirteen departures. The Tigers add five freshmen in Virginia natives

The Black & Gold also brought in four transfers including two from the University of Delaware in sophomore outfielder

Briyana Wright from Lipscomb and sophomore pitcher
Cadence Williams from Southern Alabama.
