TOWSON, Md. – This month's Student-Athlete Spotlight profiles Towson University gymnast
Isabella Minervini, who last year as a sophomore became just the second Towson gymnasts to earn First-Team All-American honors – scoring 9.9 or higher in 12 of her 15 routines on uneven bars.
After specializing in bars and floor as a freshman and getting into the lineup six times on beam last season, Minervini has secured a spot on vault – becoming the first all-around performer in four years. She has done well enough to earn EAGL Gymnast of the Week three times – with 12 podium finishes in the first seven meets of the season.
In the classroom, Minervini also shines with a 3.78 overall grade point average after five semesters at Towson. Last fall, the Mass Communication major was one of four gymnasts to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA helping the team rank atop the athletics department standings.
Minervini and her teammates host Ball State Friday night at TU Arena.
