Virginia Beach, Va. - The Towson University track & field team kicked off the first day of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Indoor Championships with a strong performance. The Tigers currently sit in eighth place after accumulating 8 points.
Elon is currently in first place, followed by Northeastern in second. William & Mary rounds out the podium in third.
Leeann Redlo set the tone for the day by setting a PR in the Pentathlon, earning a score of 3567 for a second-place finish and securing CAA All-Honors in the event. Redlo clocked an 8.84 in the 60m Hurdles and followed up by matching her PR in the High Jump at 1.76m. In Shot Put, Redlo tossed 8.33m. In the 60m Hurdles prelims, Redlo clocked a lifetime PR 8.74, securing fourth place in the event and a spot in the finals.
Tatiyana Black (13.96m) and
Aleah Schwartz (13.23m) both set PRs in the Weight Throw.
In the 400m prelims,
Piper Jons (54.22),
Cristal Cuervo (55.30) and
Jasmine Scott (56.20) placed in the top eight to qualify for finals. Scott's time placed her fifth on the top-10 list for this event.
Qiora Rollins' time of 57.86 placed her tenth on the top-10.
Like Redlo, Freshman
Niomi Allison also set a PR in the Pentathlon. Her score of 2972 placed her in eighth on the top-10 list for this event.
Maya Tucker secured a spot in tomorrow's finals by setting a PR of 7.54 in the 60m Dash, tying for fourth all-time.
In the 800m prelims,
Baara Stewart placed second in her heat and set a PR of 2:13.08 to improve her all-time mark in the event and qualify for finals. In the same event,
Lexi Mogensen also set a PR (2:17.32) and improved her all-time mark.
Piper Jons rewrote history in the 200m Dash for finishing with a 23.26 - the fastest time in Towson program history and CAA history for the event.
Cristal Cuervo (23.675) and
Maya Tucker (23.677) also rewrote Towson history with their performance in the 200m Dash, finishing in second and third place. Jons, Cuervo and Tucker took the podium as well as three spots in the 200m Dash finals.
Spencer Settle posted a PR of 25.08 in the same event.
In the 5000m,
Abbey Frock set a PR of 18:38.57.
Qiora Rollins, Lexi Mogensen, Baara Stewart and Rebekka Hillier entered Towson's
 top-10 list for the Distance Medley Relay in second with a time of 12:06.48.
