SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Towson University Softball team begins the 2025 campaign with the first of three consecutive weekends in the Carolina's. The Tigers will take on Youngstown State, Dayton and hosts Wofford in the Terrier Invite from Friday, Feb. 7 through Sunday Feb. 9.
Weekend Schedule:
Friday 2/7:
- 12:30 p.m. vs Youngstown State University
- 5:30 p.m. vs Wofford College (ESPN+)
Saturday 2/8
- 10 a.m. vs University of Dayton
- Following the game vs Dayton, the four teams will be seeded 1-4
- 3 p.m.: 2 seed vs 3 seed
- 5:30 p.m.: 1 seed vs 4 seed
Sunday 2/9
- 10 a.m.: 2v3 loser vs 1v4 loser
- 12:30 p.m.: 2v3 winner vs 1v4 winner
Scouting the Opponents:
- The Wofford Terriers had a 23-24 record in the 2024 season with an 11-10 record in the Southern Conference. The Terriers were led by the returning pitching duo of junior Margaret Axelson and sophomore Abby Greenwood. Axelson posted a 2.15 ERA in 124 innings in 2024 with Greenwood throwing 139.2 innings with a 2.66 ERA. Wofford also brings back top hitter Havalynn Abernathy in the outfield, who slashed .283/.377/.402 in 39 games last season.
- The Dayton Flyers are the reigning A-10 champions after finishing the 2024 season with a 33-21 record and a 19-7 conference record, before being knocked out in the regional round of the NCAA tournament. The Flyers return four batters who finished with above .300 batting averages last season including 2024 A-10 defensive player of the year Emma Schutter and A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Player Chloe Wong. Dayton also brings back the 2024 A-10 ERA champion in junior pitcher Izzy Kemp (1.79).
- The Youngstown State Penguins finished the 2024 season with a 36-17 record and were the number one seed in the Horizon League tournament with a 20-4 conference record. The Penguins bring back three top bats in 2024 Horizon League Player of the Year Elyssa Imler, sophomore Lydia Wilkerson and Junior Dean Kennedy who hit eight home runs last season.

th season, Towson returns three of its top five batting averages from last season in Junior
Cara Bohner (.305) and
Grace Franczyk (.287) as well as senior
Elizabeth Yoskowitz (.271). Top returners on the mound include sophomore
Amanda Medina who finished with a 3.25 ERA in 66.2 innings as a freshman, and fellow second year player
Faith McCullough who had a 3.32 ERA in 23 relief appearances. The Tigers will also see the return of redshirt senior catcher
Madyson Peters who missed the 2024 season due to injury after being named to the All-CAA First Team in 2023.
Welcome to Towson:
Towson welcomes nine new players to the squad this season to replace thirteen departures. The Tigers add five freshmen in Virginia natives

Amanda Ashe, Colorado native
Olivia Trombley, New Jersey native
Kaci Benton, and Maryland native
Mackenzie Gorczyca.
The Black & Gold also brought in four transfers including two from the University of Delaware in sophomore outfielder
Jenna Giattino and junior infielder
Anaya Troy. Towson also welcomes junior infielder
Briyana Wright from Lipscomb and sophomore pitcher
Cadence Williams from Southern Alabama.
