PHILADELPHIA – Two Towson University gymnasts earned 2025 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) annual awards, announced by the league after the conference's championship last night in Philadelphia.
Clara Hong is the 2025 EAGL Scholar-Athlete of the Year while
Ava Harper is the EAGL Rookie Specialist of the Year.
On the mats, Hong is one of Towson's top competitors, earning First Team All-EAGL in bars, beam and floor plus finishing a 9.8+ score 30 times this season. She finished with over 400 points this year, ranking in the top-three in league in each beam and bars. In the classroom, the four-time All-EAGL Scholastic Team honoree stands with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, majoring in biology. Hong is the first Towson gymnast to earn EAGL Scholar-Athlete of the Year since Lauren Bolen in 2023.
Harper, in her first year of collegiate competition, earned First Team All-EAGL on vault, ranking sixth in the league. She finished the regular season with at least a 9.7 on vault in all 13 meets competed in, including six 9.8+ scores. Harper is the first-ever EAGL Rookie Specialist of the Year in the league's first year of the award.
The annual awards were nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches.
