Skerry was named CAA Coach of the Year for the second time with the previous time occurring in 2012-2013 season. He helped the Tigers win the outright CAA regular season title for the first time in program history. Skerry guided Towson to its fourth consecutive 20+ win season for the first time in program history. Skerry led the team to a 16-2 record in CAA play for the first time in program history and is the sixth team in CAA history to finish with that record. Towson got off to the best start in program history in CAA play and in any conference. He also surpassed Vince Angotti as the winningest coach in program history this season. Skerry previously won the award in 2023.

At Wake Forest, Prosser's teams averaged 21 wins per season while playing in arguably the nation's most difficult league, the Atlantic Coast Conference. Prosser won 100 games at an ACC school quicker than all but two coaches in the 55-year history of the conference. Prosser passed away of an apparent heart attack on July 26, 2007 in his office at Wake Forest. He had just returned from his morning jog.
The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.
