Boston, Ma. - The Towson University track & field team completed its first day of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. The Tigers sit in sixth place after accumulating 13 points.
Binghampton currently sits in first place, followed by Northeastern in second. Mount St. Mary's rounds out the podium in third.
Maya Tucker set the tone for the day with a second-place finish in the 60m prelims with a time of 7.61. In the 60m semis, Tucker set a PR of 7.50 to qualify for finals.
Baara Stewart (5:00.92) and
Lexi Mogensen (5:07.15) both set PRs in the Mile, earning spots at third and ninth on Towson's top 10 all-time list for the event, respectively. Stewart (2:55.17) and Mogensen (2:59.84) carried their momentum into the 1000m Dash, setting new PRs and climbing the event's top 10 all-time list – Stewart to second and Mogensen to fifth.
Aniyah Toppin finished top 8 in the Long Jump to secure All-ECAC honors.
Leeann Redlo set a PR of 8.69 in the 60m Hurdles, taking second place in the event and qualifying for finals. In the High Jump, Redlo cleared 1.80 on her first attempt to move up to first all-time in Towson history. Redlo separated herself from the second-place finisher by 0.12m.
Cristal Cuervo,
Piper Jons and
Jasmine Scott all qualified for the 400m finals. Cuervo finished first after clocking a season-best time of 54.51, and Jons finished in third.
Jons, Tucker and
Christal Pommells all qualified for finals in the 200m prelims. Jons placed first and Tucker secured second in the event.
