STATE COLLEGE, Pa – The Towson University Men's Golf team played the first two rounds of the Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted by Penn State on the Penn State Blue Course. The Tigers shot one-over par (285) in the first round to sit in second place entering round two where Towson shot seventeen-over par (302) to end day one in eighth place.
Jai Sheth posted a 69 (-2) in round one and a 75 (+4) in round two to sit tied for 13
th at two-over par entering the final 18 holes. The two-under par first round was Sheth's best round of the season and the junior lead Towson with six birdies through the first two rounds.
Sky Aung shot 71 (E) in the first round before a 74 (+3) in the second round to finish the first day of action tied for 20
th place at three-over par. Aung birdied three times in the first round and shot par or better during the final eleven holes of the opening round.
Mike Matheson parred 15 holes during round one and finished the round with a 73 (+1) and shot 74 (+3) in round two to be tied for 24
th with 18 holes left to play. Matheson was one of two Tigers to birdie multiple holes in the second round.
Adam Green shot 73 (+2) in the first round and 79 (+8) in the second round to sit tied for 50
th at ten-over entering round three.
Ariihau Faana eagled hole one in the first round which he finished with a 74 (+3) before shooting 79 (+8) in round two to finish day one eleven-over par and tied for 57
th place.
