GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Towson University track & field team concluded the first day of competition at the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Outdoor Championships on Wednesday. After five scored events, the Tigers sit in 11th place with a total of two points.
Elon is currently placed first after accumulating a total of 44 points. Hampton follows in second with 29 points, and William & Mary rounds out the podium in third with 28 points.
In the heptathlon, junior
Leeann Redlo leads the field after four events with a total of 3164 points. She opened the day with a time of 14.13 in the 100m hurdles and followed up by setting the meet record in the high jump in the heptathlon at 1.76m. Redlo followed with a 9.10m throw in shot put and closed out day one by clocking 25.91 in the 200m.
In the long jump, sophomore
Aniyah Toppin secured a top 10 finish.
Leeann Redlo clocked a 14.14 in the 100m hurdles prelims to qualify for finals.
In the 400m prelims,
Cristal Cuervo and
Jasmine Scott secured a spot in tomorrow's finals. Sophomore
Kelis Milburn finished with a PR of 57.51 in the event.
Maya Tucker finished first overall in the 100m prelims to advance to finals in the event.
Stella Anani (12.09),
Aniyah Toppin (12.11) and
Princess Asante (12.26) set PRs in the event.
Giselle Badoo ran a season-best time of 12.34.
Baara Stewart advanced to the finals in the 800m prelims after improving her all-time mark, clocking a PR of 2:11.97. Her performance ranks third all-time in program history.
Spencer Settle additionally improved her all-time mark and qualified for finals, but in the 400m hurdles. Her time of 1:00.71 ranks fifth all-time in Towson history.
Kelis Milburn set another PR in the same event with a time of 1:03.54.
Cristal Cuervo and
Maya Tucker both earned top three finishes in the 200m prelims to secure spots in the finals. Cuervo posted a season-best time of 23.65, finishing first overall in the preliminary round.
Freshman
Mari Collick improved her all-time mark in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 11:44.63. Her performance ranks tenth in program history.
