Graduation Week Is Here — And So Is Your Chance to Make a Difference

Wednesday marked the beginning of three days of graduation ceremonies at Towson University. Nearly 100 student-athletes will cross the stage in SECU Arena to receive their diplomas and begin the next chapter of their lives.

As campus celebrates the Class of 2025, Towson Athletics is proud to spotlight one of our own: Chop Gallagher, a standout member of the men's lacrosse team who has just wrapped up an extraordinary career both on and off the field.

During his time at TU, Chop helped lead the men's lacrosse team to back-to-back Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championships in 2024 and 2025, earning NCAA Tournament berths and reaching as high as No. 12 in the national rankings. His personal accolades include being named a team captain in 2025, earning a First Team All-CAA honor and receiving Honorable Mention All-American recognition.

"My favorite memory on the field is winning back-to-back CAA championships," said Chop. "I was honored to be named a captain and earn some personal accolades, but nothing feels as good as holding up the CAA trophy."

Originally from the West Coast, Chop chose Towson because he wanted to be part of a program where winning was the standard and he trusted the coaching staff. Though far from home, the campus, academics and community made TU feel like the perfect fit.

But Chop's impact didn't stop at the sidelines. He fully embraced the student-athlete experience, completing internships with the Tiger Athletic Fund, where he helped lead a student-athlete giving campaign during the 2024 Big Give, and with the Towson Sports Network, assisting with game day operations.

"It was really cool to see the behind-the-scenes side of things," he said. "It gave me a whole new appreciation for the amazing people who support us every day."

He also traveled to Costa Rica with his team, helping grow the game of lacrosse internationally while building lasting bonds off the field. And, like so many Towson student-athletes, he developed life skills that will serve him well beyond graduation — time management, discipline and the ability to thrive under pressure.

"Your support means more than you probably realize," Chop shared. "It gave us the opportunity to compete at a high level, grow as people and create memories that will last a lifetime."

Chop represents the very best of what it means to be a student-athlete — excelling on the field, in the classroom and across campus. His story is one of many that demonstrate the power of your support.

As we celebrate the Class of 2025, we invite all Towson supporters to consider making a gift to the Tiger Athletic Fund. Your generosity helps ensure that future Tigers can enjoy the same transformational experience that Chop and his fellow graduates did during their time at TU.

Whether you've already made a gift this year or are considering one, your continued support makes a real impact. To contribute before the close of the fiscal year, please visit www.towson.edu/taf. Your investment helps open doors for our student-athletes—on the field, in the classroom, and across the graduation stage. Thank you for being part of their journey.

Goh Tigers!
