TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's soccer team will head to Philadelphia to play Saint Joseph's on Sunday at 1 p.m. This is the second season the two teams have played each other with a 0-0 draw at Tiger Field. The overall series history has a 2-2-2 record with Towson owning the recent advantage going 1-0-2 in the previous three matches. The Hawks (1-3-0) earned their first win of the season on Thursday at home against Rider with a 3-0 final. The match can be watched on ESPN+.

In their last time out, the Tigers played former conference rivals Delaware to a 2-2 draw on Thursday night at home.
Malin Bernt Schöps recorded her seconded collegiate brace against the Blue Hens, both goals being scored in the first half. Schöps scored her first goal of the night with a headed goal and her second goal by way of a cross from
Kale'a Perry. Perry has had an assist in every game this season, currently tied for second in the Coastal Athletic Association with teammate
Emma Kirkpatrick.

Riley Melendez,
Maja Hansson and
Demi Pierre, six starters return from the 2024 squad that went undefeated during the month of October – finishing that stretch with four wins and three ties, including three of the top four point producers:
Sophie Thibeault (7 goals, 2 assists),
Schöps (4g, 1a) and
Kale'a Perry (2g, 3a). Three other starters, midfielder
Emma Levin and defenders
Brooke Birrell and
Sydney Lindeman, also return.
Towson was picked to finish fourth in the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) North Division in the preseason coaches' poll – behind Stony Brook, Monmouth and Hofstra and ahead of Northeastern and Drexel. Starting this season, CAA women's soccer has been separated into two divisions, North and South. Each team will play all teams in its division plus four matches against the other division. The top three teams in each division will qualify for the 2025 CAA Championship.
FRESH FACES
Towson welcomed nine new players this season, five freshman and four transfers: defenders
Gracen Houck, (Morehead State) and
Emma Kirkpatrick (Rhode Island), forward
Luisa Navas Gonzalez (Mount St. Mary's) and midfielder
Emely Rubio (Campbell). The four bring 181 games of collegiate experience from their previous institutions. Rubio and Houck spent the 2025 spring semester with Towson.
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
The Hawks finished the 2024 campaign 9-4-7 with a 4-1-5 record in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Saint Joseph's is 1-3-0 in 2025, dropping their first three games of the season. This is the third of four consecutive home games for the Hawks and six games in Philadelphia.
NEXT UP
Towson returns home on Thursday, Aug. 4 for a game against UMBC. The game is sure to be a test of strength with the Retrievers (3-1-1) posting clean sheets in each of their wins while the Tigers lead the CAA in goals per game. The game will be Military Appreciation Day and Jersey Giveaway.
