PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Towson University track & field team opened 2026 at the Penn Select on Saturday. The Tigers secured four first-place finishes and added nine new all-time marks.
"After a long winter break, we're still finding our groove but the response to an early meet back showed some resilience," said head coach
Consandria Walker-Hall. "There were good moments to celebrate today, and we'll continue working through a few areas that need improvement in our training."
Field Events
In the high jump, senior
Leeann Redlo secured first place at 1.78m - setting a meet record at the Penn Select. Freshmen
Sierra Swangin (1.67m) and
Addison Inge (1.62m) placed fourth and seventh, respectively.
In the long jump, freshman
Jaylynn Dorsey leapt a PR 5.83m to place fourth overall at the meet and third on Towson's all-time list in the event.
Freshman
Brunell Owusu secured a second-place finish in the pole vault after a 3.77m mark, ranking third all-time in Towson history.
Kiara Murray placed fifth in the triple jump with an 11.87m mark, ranking fifth all-time.
Aniyah Toppin followed in sixth place with an 11.57m jump.
Brandi Gochenauer secured season-best marks in both the shot put (10.90m) and the weight throw (12.44m).
Track Events
In the 60m hurdles finals,
Leeann Redlo clocked 8.75 to finish second overall. In the prelims, Redlo ran 8.66, ranking fifth all-time.
Nesther Wea placed fourth overall in the 60m, posting a time of 7.67.
In the 200m,
Kadidja Ouattara grabbed another gold for the Tigers after running 24.90.
Bianca Durant trailed closely behind, clocking 24.99 to take second overall in the event.
Princess Asante (25.17, 4th) and
Brianna Easley (25.60, 10th) additionally secured top-ten finishes in the event.
Stella Anani ran a season-best time of 26.01.
Qiora Rollins captured another win for the Black & Gold in the 400m, clocking a time of 56.52 to rank sixth all-time.
Spencer Settle (56.62) finished in third, ranking seventh all-time.
Mydison Britton (57.31) also moved into the record book, ranking ninth all-time after a seventh-place finish.
Deschanique Douglas ran a PR of 58.50.
Baara Stewart claimed sixth place in the 800m, clocking 2:13.06 to rank second all-time in program history.
In the 4x400m, the relay team of
Spencer Settle,
Baara Stewart,
Nesther Wea and
Qiora Rollins posted a combined time of 3:45.52 - ranking third all-time for Towson and setting a meet record for the Penn Select. The "B" relay team of
Kelis Milburn,
Jaylynn Dorsey,
Christal Pommells and
Deschanique Douglas placed fourth out of twelve teams after clocking 3:55.15.
