TOWSON, Md. - Junior Baara Stewart earned Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) weekly honors for the second consecutive week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Towson traveled to Bucknell University this past weekend to compete at the Gulden Invitational, where Stewart delivered a standout performance in the 1000m and the 4x800m, helping the Tigers secure two gold medals. Highlighting the weekend was a program record in the 1000m, as Stewart clocked a winning time of 2:53.54 - nearly two minutes faster than her previous personal best. The mark reset the 39-year-old Towson record previously set in 1987 by Maureen Shaneman (2:55.10).
Stewart was also a member of Towson's "A" 4x800m team alongside Addison Mau, Jenkins and James. The quartet claimed first place with a time of 9:24.30, ranking third all-time in program history. With two gold medal performances, Stewart was named the Gulden Invitational MVP.
The junior's second straight weekly honor follows an impressive showing at the Penn Select the week prior, where she earned her first collegiate weekly award. Stewart placed sixth overall in the 800m with a time of 2:13.06, ranking second all-time in Towson history. She also competed on the Tigers' 4x400m team with Spencer Settle, Nesther Wea and Qiora Rollins. The group captured first place out of 12 teams with a time of 3:45.52, setting a meet record and ranking third all-time in program history.
Towson continues its season at the Penn State Nationals, hosted by Pennsylvania State University, from January 30–31.
