TOWSON, Md. - Junior Baara Stewart continued her historic stretch for Towson track & field, earning Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) weekly honors for the third consecutive week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Stewart's latest recognition follows another record-breaking weekend at the Penn State National, where she reset two program records for the Tigers. On day one, Stewart posted a time of 2:10.08 in the 800m, breaking a mark that had stood since 1988 by more than two seconds. The previous record was held by Maureen Shaneman.
The junior added yet another program record on day two, finishing second overall in the 600m with a time of 1:31.87 to continue her standout campaign.
The honor marks Stewart's third straight weekly accolade, following her record-setting performance in the 1000m the week prior. She clocked a time of 2:53.54, surpassing Shaneman's record that dated back to 1987.
Towson returns to action this weekend at the Skyes & Sabock Challenge, hosted by Penn State on Friday, February 7.
