TOWSON, Md. – Towson softball sophomore
Olivia Trombley was named the Coastal Athletic Association Co-Pitcher of the Week after her performance throughout the Towson Tiger Invite this past weekend, the CAA announced Tuesday. This is Trombley's second weekly award of the season and third overall for Towson.
Trombley made two starts in Towson's second home tournament in as many weeks and went the distance in both earning a pair of complete game shutout victories. In the sophomore's first start against UMass Lowell on Friday, Trombley pitched all 7.0 innings allowing only two hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. The next day against Central Connecticut State Trombley threw six scoreless allowing four hits with a career high ten strikeouts. On the weekend Trombley pitched 13.0 innings allowing six hits and zero runs with 19 strikeouts.
Trombley finished her rookie season with a 5.45 ERA, 42 strikeouts and six wins on the mound in 20 starts. In only nine starts so far this season, the sophomore holds a 2.40 ERA with 51 strikeouts and six wins.
Towson is now set for its first midweek games of the season as the Tigers host Delaware State at 2 p.m. today and Mount St. Mary's at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
