STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The No. 17/20 Towson University men's lacrosse team heads to Long Island to begin league play, taking on Stony Brook on Saturday, March 21 at noon.
The game will be broadcast live on FloCollege, with Jonny Wincott and Greg Taylor on the call live from Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
Towson begins its title defense with its first league game, coming off a 17-11 win at Villanova on Saturday for its second straight win to stand 4-3 overall. Stony Brook has won four games in a row, defeating Hofstra 12-7 in its home opener last Saturday to be 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).
Towson rose in the USILA Coaches Poll to No. 17 and stands at No. 20 in the
Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Stony Brook is not ranked in either poll.
Towson's next six games are all in league play. The Tigers are the two-time defending CAA champion, having won their last 18 CAA regular season games.
Stony Brook head coach Anthony Gilardi formerly spent eight years as an associate head coach/assistant coach at Towson from 2012-19, also serving as an assistant coach under
Shawn Nadelen for the U20 USA Team this past summer.
TOWSON - BACK-TO-BACK CAA CHAMPIONS
Towson enters 2026 as the two-time reigning CAA champion, including two undefeated regular seasons and wins in the CAA Tournament, leading to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
Towson has won 10 CAA championships, all coming since 2003. Its back-to-back titles are the first for Towson since winning three straight from 2015-17.
Towson's 10 conference tournament titles, since the establishment of men's lacrosse as a sport in the CAA, are the most in the league. Second is Delaware, which won five before leaving the league in 2025.
18 STRAIGHT CAA REGULAR SEASON WINS
Towson has been dominant in league play, winning the last 18 regular season CAA games dating back to the 2023 season. This includes 7-0 undefeated CAA regular season records in each 2024 and 2025. It is the longest consecutive conference win streak in program history and the longest currently in Division I.

Towson is back in the national rankings, standing No. 17 in the USILA Coaches Poll and No. 20 in the
Inside Lacrosse Media Poll after entering the season ranked No. 15 and No. 16 in each poll respectively. Towson has finished the past two seasons ranked nationally in the top-15. Towson is also the lone top-20 ranked team in the CAA.
The Tigers defeated then-No. 17 Virginia on March 7 and played two other top-20 teams, Johns Hopkins and Saint Joseph's, in non-conference play. Other Towson opponents receiving votes in the polls include Loyola, Navy and Villanova.

Mikey Weisshaar was selected as a 2026 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List member and an
Inside Lacrosse and
USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-American Second Team. The reigning CAA Offensive Player of the Year was the CAA leader in goals and points per game, earning 48 goals and 24 assists for 72 points, averaging 4.5 points per game.
ROUSSEL - USA LACROSSE MAGAZINE DI MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Roussel's historic day in the win at Virginia on March 9 earned him USA Lacrosse Magazine DI Player of the Week. The senior attack had a hand in nine of Towson's 13 scores, earning career-highs of nine points, five goals and four assists in the road victory.

Mikey Weisshaar is in position to place himself high in the Towson record books. He currently stands tied for second in Towson history with 127 goals and third with 192 points. With 192 points in 53 career games played, he is averaging 3.62 points per game.
He currently stands with two of the top-eight single season records in goals in Towson history plus his 72 points in 2025 was seventh in Towson single season history.

Stony Brook's four-game winning streak is the longest current winning streak among CAA teams.
As a team, Stony Brook averages 10.5 goals per game. Junior attack Collin Williamson is the top goal-scorer with 14, adding four assists, while sophomore midfielder Klan McCoy has 10 goals and five assists. Each of Stony Brook's six offensive starters have at least five goals.
Stony Brook's scoring defense allows 11.25 goals per game, anchored by senior Tommy Wilk in goal with a 52.9% save rate and 10.73 goals allowed average. Senior close defenseman Carson Forney has 12 ground balls and four caused turnovers. The Seawolves have allowed single digit goals each of their last four games.

NADELEN NAMED HEAD COACH OF U20 MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
Towson head coach
Shawn Nadelen was selected as the head coach of the United States Men's U20 National Team. Nadelen coached the U.S. U20 Team to a silver medal finish in 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship in South Korea this past summer. Towson assistant coach
Andy Shilling also served in the same role for the U.S. U20 Team.
Nadelen is the second Towson men's lacrosse head coach to lead one of the U.S. National Teams. Tony Seaman, Towson head coach from 1999 to 2011, was the head coach of the U.S. Men's Senior National Team for the 1994 World Lacrosse Championship.
