TOWSON, Md. – Towson softball sophomore
Mackenzie Gorczyca was named the Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Week after her performance in Towson's series against Monmouth this past weekend, the CAA announced Monday. This is Gorczyca's first weekly award of her career and fourth overall for Towson this season.
In Towson's three game series against the Hawks, Gorczyca batted 5-11 with a double for a .455/.500/.545 slash line. The Prince Frederick native racked up four RBI's and scored three runs while helping lead the Tigers to a series victory. Gorczyca had a three-hit day with a pair of RBIs in game one before knocking in another couple of runs during Saturday's 11-4 win. In game three, Gorczyca doubled and scored to put Towson up 1-0 in the 7
th.
Gorczyca is batting .333 so far in her sophomore season and is second on the Tigers with 30 hits and fourth with 17 RBIs.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow, March 24
th for a midweek matchup against Georgetown.
