Track & Field Completes Outdoor Season Opener at Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Towson University track & field team completed its first meet of the outdoor season on Saturday at the Rider 6-Way Meet, hosted by Rider University.

Field Events
Freshman Brunell Owusu placed first in the pole vault after clearing 3.45m. Ashley Umhoefer finished in third place with a 3.15m mark.

In the high jump, freshman Addison Inge grabbed second place after a leap of 1.55m. Sierra Swangin and Desirae Hernandez placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Three Tigers placed in the top five in the long jump: Aniyah Toppin (2nd, 5.62m), Kiara Murray (3rd, 5.50m) and Jaylynn Dorsey (4th, 5.45m).

In shot put, Olamide Enajekpo grabbed gold in her Towson debut with a 13.35m throw, ranking sixth all-time.

Denise Kamgaing additionally made her debut in the Black & Gold, also finishing first in the hammer throw with a 50.06m mark, ranking tenth all-time. Enajekpo followed in second place after clearing 49.43m.

Track Events
Towson's "A" team consisting of Princess Asante, Bianca Durant, Stella Anani and Kadidja Ouattara posted a combined time of 48.55 to place second in the 4x100m.

In the 1500m, junior Baara Stewart secured her first gold finish of the season after clocking a personal-best 4:34.13, ranking third all-time in the event in Towson history.

In the 100m hurdles, Desirae Hernandez placed fifth with a time of 15.25.

Three Tigers placed in the top five in the 400m: Princess Asante (1st, 1:00.39), Kadidja Ouattara (2nd, 1:01.06) and Jaylynn Dorsey (4th, 1:01.62).

Freshman Brianna Easley earned a podium finish in the 100m, placing third with a time of 12.13. Durant followed closely behind to finish in fourth (12.20).

Sophomore Rebekka Hillier crossed the line in 2:27.20 in the 800m to place sixth.

In the 400m hurdles, Deschanique Douglas earned a second-place finish after clocking 1:09.47. Senior Leeann Redlo finished in fourth place.

In the 200m, the Black & Gold took over the podium with strong finishes from Easley (1st, 25.10), Durant (2nd, 25.29) and Qiora Rollins (3rd, 25.37).

In the 4x400m, the combined relay team of Sophia Skinner, Layla JamesJaayah Jenkins and Stewart grabbed gold for Towson with a time of 3:58.36.

The Tigers are slated to travel to George Mason University for the Dalton EBanks Invitational from April 3-4 in Fairfax, Virginia.
