TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team returns home to host Coppin State for a midweek non-conference matchup on Wednesday.
Scouting the Opponent:
The Coppin State Eagles are 2-15 on the 2026 season with wins over Alcorn State and Delaware State. This is the second meeting between the two teams this season, Towson defeated the Eagles 5-4 on March 8
th. Brooklyn Tapusoa is batting .283 with two homeruns and leads the Eagles in hits and RBIs.
Last Week Highlights:
Kaci Benton hit her 7
th homerun of the season on Saturday against Stony Brook to make it a six-way tie for the most homeruns in the CAA this season.
Addie Ferguson is also part of that group.
Alyssa Myint launched her third homer of the year after only hitting one in her first three years as a Tiger.
Mikaela Guy now has the second-best ERA in the CAA among qualified pitchers and is fourth in the NCAA with five saves. Five saves is also tied for the most saves in a season for a Towson pitcher.

Towson welcomes twelve new players to the 2026 roster, including ten freshmen and two transfers. Newcomers from the portal are sophomore
Kinsley Peek and redshirt-sophomore
Jada Wade. Rookie additions include pitchers

Jessa Pieters; catchers
Sara Hopper and
Caileigh Mahovetz, infielders Kalissa Coats,

Conference Realignment:
2026 sees the CAA conference division split put into effect. Towson, Drexel, Hofstra, Monmouth and Stony Brook make up the North Division while Campbell, Charleston, Elon, Hampton, North Carolina A&T and UNCW are the South Division. North division teams play six conference series against North teams and two against south teams. The top two teams in the standings of each division will automatically qualify for the CAA tournament while the final two spots will be determined by highest conference winning percentage of all the remaining teams from both divisions.
