PHILADELPHIA – The Towson University gymnastics team notched a season-best 49.200 on the bars on the final rotation in a third-place finish at the Temple Quad Meet.
Towson notched as East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) regular season with a team score of 195.000, defeating host Temple with 194.450. Towson finished behind Maryland at 195.900 and Penn at 195.075.
Towson took the top two spots in all-around, with
Isabella Minervini earning a 39.275 and
Polina Belanovski following with a 39.050. They also finished one and two on bars with a 9.925 and 9.850 respectively.
How it Happened for Towson (in Rotation Order)
- Beam (rotation one) – 48.125
- Need to recover after a first spot fall, the next three gymnasts hit their stride, including Isabella Minervini notching a 9.800 on the fourth routine.
- Another fall forced Towson to take a 9.225 score. Brissa Portillo finished strong with a 9.675.
- Floor (rotation two) – 49.075
- Towson got off to a strong start to floor with the first three gymnasts hitting at least a 9.8. Carmella Calafati spearheaded that group with a 9.850 on third spot.
- All gymnasts in rotation hit at least a 9.7. Adriana Hoffman finished with a 9.825 to secure the 49+ score.
- Vault (rotation three) – 48.600
- Bars (rotation four) – 49.200
Inside the Numbers
- Isabella Minervini, with her eighth all-around victory of the season, surpassed the career 1,500-point mark. She currently stands with 1,511.475 career points.
- Towson earns at least a 49 team score on floor for the eighth time this season.
- Piper Slocum hit a new career-high on bars with a 9.825, her third straight meet with at least a 9.8 on bars.
