Tigers Edge Delaware, 1-0

NEWARK, Del. - Freshman forward Liam Maloney scored the game's only goal in the 44th minute as the Tigers (7-4-2, 3-2-2) outlasted a tough Delaware squad to edge the Blue Hens (2-10-3, 1-5-1) by a 1-0 margin in a Colonial Athletic Association game at Delaware Mini-Stadium on Wednesday night.

Maloney, who leads the Tigers with five goals this season, scored off a header with 1:26 remaining in the first half off passes from seniors Rob Nwosu and Matt Beckman.

Meanwhile, the Tiger defense posted its fifth shutout of the season as freshman goalkeeper John Steele made seven saves to earn his seventh victory of the season. With the shutout, he improved his CAA-leading goals against average to 0.66 and now has an .885 save percentage, which also leads the league.

Despite outshooting the Tigers by a 15-14 margin, the Blue Hens' best opportunity to score came midway through the first half when a header by Darren Christie was stopped by Steele.

The Tigers will return home to the Towson Center Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon to host Virginia Commonwealth at 1 p.m.
