TOWSON, Md. -The Towson University men's soccer team was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) this week, earning a Team Academic Award from the organization for the 2011-12 year. It is the third consecutive season the Tigers have earned the award.
"This
is a fantastic accomplishment for the entire team and our commitment to
being student-athletes," Towson head coach Frank Olszewski said. "Our program takes great pride in fulfilling this responsibility. It is
also quite a compliment to Bobbi Madison and our Academic Achievement
support team, including our team's advisor, Michele O'Connor."
Towson had a cumulative grade point average of 3.29, eclipsing the needed 3.00 mark that earns the award from the NSCAA.
Founded in 1941, the NSCAA is the world's largest soccer coaches' organization. It serves members at every level of the game and operates under its three core values: "Learn. Participate. Belong."
