Tigers Edged by Drexel, 1-0

TOWSON, Md. ? After a very successful month of September, the Tigers entered Friday's match against Drexel looking to keep the success going into October. However, the Dragons prevented Towson from continuing the good fortune by securing a 1-0 victory in a Colonial Athletic Association match at Towson Center Field.

Junior midfielder Anthony Bafile scored the game's only goal in the 71st minute as the Dragons snapped a six-match winless streak. It was the Dragons' first win since a 3-2 overtime victory against Fordham on August 31. All three of the Dragons' wins this season have been decided by one-goal margins.

Bafile scored his first goal of the season with 19:07 remaining in the second half when he converted a 30-yard blast past freshman goalkeeper John Steele.

From there, the Drexel defense held off several scoring chances by the Tigers.

Senior goalkeeper Cory Robertson made three saves to earn his third shutout of the season.

Steele, who had allowed just one goal in his last four outings, made five saves for the Tigers, who had their four-match win streak snapped.

The Tigers and the Dragons each had 11 shots in the match while Drexel produced the game's only corner kick.

The Tigers will return home on Wednesday afternoon to host George Mason University at 3 p.m. while Drexel will host Delaware at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
