WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary's Kelsey Nawalinski scored just 24 seconds into overtime to lift the Tribe to a 2-1 win over the Towson field hockey team on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (7-5, 1-3 CAA) dropped the second game of its road trip and third contest overall.
Towson got on the board first in the contest as junior Mariah Schuette scored off a pass from senior Maureen Meara. Schuette's goal was her sixth of the season and came in the 15th minute.
Towson held a 1-0 advantage at halftime as the shots were tied at 6-6.
The Tribe tied the contest in the 37th minute as Jenna Cinalli redirected a shot from Drew Wesley past sophomore Whitney Clugston.
The Tigers held a 15-10 advantage in shots at the end of regulation.
William & Mary took little time to secure the victory with Nawalinski's goal coming just into overtime. Rebecca Wagner picked up the assist on Nawalinski's game-winner.
Clugston made five saves for the Tigers while Carrie Thompson had eight saves for the Tribe.
Towson returns to action on Sunday, October 12 when the Tigers host Northeastern at 1 p.m.
