ATLANTA, Ga. - Hoping to improve their hopes of a Colonial Athletic Association Tournament berth, the Tigers looked to continue their recent success against Georgia State on Saturday afternoon. However, the Panthers used a pair of goals in the second half to earn a 2-0 victory over Towson on Senior Day.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 7-5-4 overall and 3-3-4 in the CAA. Meanwhile, the Panthers earn their first conference win of the season and improve to 5-8-4 overall and 1-6-3 in the CAA.
After a scoreless first half, the Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the 73rd minute when Joe DeVito scored off a pass from Linus Warendh. With just 43 seconds remaining, Eduardo Liza upped the Georgia State advantage to 2-0 with an unassisted goal.
Freshman goalkeeper John Steele made six saves for the Tigers, who were outshot by a 17-12 margin.
The Tigers will end the regular season on Friday afternoon when they host James Madison at the Towson Center Soccer Complex at 2 p.m.
