FAIRFAX, Va. ? Led by a pair of individual victories from Robin Glaser and Meredith Budner, the Tigers extended their dual meet win streak to 15 straight dual meets with a trio of victories at a CAA Pod Meet hosted by George Mason University. The Tigers improve to 7-0 on the season with wins over the host Patriots, UNC Wilmington and Delaware.
The Tigers earned a 243-110 victory over the Blue Hens in addition to a 220-133 win over George Mason. The Tigers also added a 222-131 decision over UNC Wilmington.
“It was a very competitive meet with four of the top five teams from last year's conference championship participating,” said Towson Coach Pat Mead. “These were great wins for us, but it also showed that the conference has gotten better, so we still have some work to do.”
Glaser led the Tigers to a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.22 before posting a win in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.13 seconds. She also helped the Tigers to a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Towson posted a time of 3:31.78.
Meanwhile, Budner took first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.34 along with a win in the 400-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 4 minutes, 27.06 seconds.
Sophomore Brooke Golden, who was named as the CAA Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, earned another victory on Saturday by posting a time of 2:05.50 in the 200-yard butterfly. Meanwhile, senior Melissa Otterbein (2:08.76) and freshman Marianna Kogut (2:10.23) followed in third and fourth places, respectively.
Freshman Cari Czarnecki won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.21 while junior Ivy Wimberley followed in second place with a time of 1:07.14.
Senior Danielle Kelly won the 100-yard backstroke for the Tigers with a time of 58.48 seconds in addition to a fourth place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.10).
The Tigers also placed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:48.31.
The Tigers will be idle until November 15 when they travel to Maryland for a double dual meet against the host Terrapins and UMBC.
