TOWSON, Md. ? Despite five saves from senior goalkeeper Kendie Bauer, the Tigers were unable to earn their first Colonial Athetic Association victory of the season and dropped a 2-0 decision against James Madison University at the Towson Center Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore goalkeeper Diane Wszalek made five saves to earn her second shutout of the season as the Dukes earned their third win in the last four games.
Sophomore midfielder Teresa Rynier gave the Dukes a 1-0 lead at the 26:41 mark when she scored her third goal of the season, converting a pass from senior midfielder Kim Germain.
With 13 minutes left in the first half, the Dukes upped their advantage to 2-0 when freshman midfielder Lisa Heise scored the first goal of her college career off assists from Germain and junior midfielder Ashley Flateland.
From there, the Dukes held off the Tigers, who dropped their first home game of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Jocelyn Papciak made two saves in the first half for the Tigers before being replaced by Bauer, who made five saves as the Tigers were outshot by a 20-8 margin.
The Dukes also had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Tigers will travel to Northeastern University on Friday evening for a 6 p.m. match against the Huskies. Meanwhile, the Dukes continue their three-game road trip on Friday at UNC Wilmington.
